Building Community

Foster and polish the warrior spirit while serving in the world; illuminate the path according to your inner light.

Morihei Ueshiba

Training in Aikido reveals to us a potent inner strength and an acute awarness of our surroundings. This is the foundation upon which we grow to positively engage with our environment and those in our community. The dojo serves as a community, a safe and inviting place to rejuvenate, to learn, and to share. We extend this to the larger community; our neighborhoods, our cities, to all those we touch in our lives.

Our students are encouraged to offer their services to the community making it a better place for all. Whether individually or as a group we are interested in opportunities to "be the change that we wish to see," to this end we provide opportunities for our students to actively and positively engage with the community.  If you have a need please contact us.

Members of the dojo have volunteered to assist in the landscape work for the R&R House. A house operated by Volunteers of America and the Veteran's Administration to provide homeless vets with a safe, stable, and recuperative community living experience to aid in healing and a return to society.

Students are currently designing and building a meditative Zen garden for the residents of the Lloyd Apartment building. This project will beautify the grounds and give residents a peaceful place to escape the noise of the city along with the opportunity to be a part of the garden's life.
